Betta Ideii

Most recent acquisition. Beautiful creature just like its close cousin Betta Macrostoma. The male has a distinct greenish colour on its chin. It is about 10cm for the male and 9cm for the female. Have seen ideii much bigger than these sizes. Not too sure about its breeding habits but definitely a mouthbrooder.

This fish was a recent discovery and found in Pulau Laut, Kalimantan Selatan. Originally called Betta Sp Laut. It was discovered by a Japanese call Idei, hence the name Ideii.

Black Betta

I call them black beauty. One of the hardest colouration to achieve. The Black Betta in its perfect form is so dark colour that even the eyes is hard to see. I have been trying to breed the fish without much success of achieving the right colour. There will be alway presence of iridiscence, ie the bluish tint mixed with the black colour. The black female is suppose to be infertile so selection of the female is always a challenge. Black lace female are fertile but not prefered. Most breeder will use steel colour female.

Star Tortoise

The Indian Star Tortoise is considered endangered. Natural beauty much sought after by collector. For some people, it's nice to have but not able to take care of it, is a common problem. I would discourage animal lovers who don't have the time to take care of it to give it a second thought before buying.

Betta Patoti

The Patoti is a mouthbrooder. Not as beautiful but a fish that can grow to 12cm. It is basically brownish. Got a pair from a hobbyist here. when the pair came on Sunday 10 Dec 2006, it was just hiding in the Java fern. Today at feeding time, can see them rushing out to eat. Baby brine shrimp and frozen blood worm forms the basic diet. Starting to train them to eat pellet food.

Smaragdina

Smaragdina is a very common fish in Thailand. Here in Singapore, not rare but typically hard to find. Only certain places sells this fish like in the fish farm or selected local fish shop. I got a pair at a bargain price and to date it has given me three spawns but very few left. Smaragdina is a fierce fighter. It's body is typical green shiny scale.

Betta pallifina

Newly acquired species. This betta specie is from the Unimaculata group. Very young juvenile. Hopeful that it will grow to adulthood and should be able to spawn within 3 months. Feeding on baby brine shrimp and frozen blood worm. Current pH setting in tank is 6.0.
